📢 Announcement

The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) in the United Kingdom invites applications for:

PhD Scholarships

19

Masters Scholarships

Final selection will be made by the CSC and awards are tenable at any approved UK University that hosts CSC awardees.

14th October, 2025

Ministry Deadline

16th October, 2025

By 5:00 PM

🎯 Eligibility Requirements

📘 For Master’s Study

  • Proof of Kenyan citizenship 🇰🇪
  • Bachelor’s degree – at least 2nd class upper division from a recognized university
  • All university transcripts
  • Supporting statements from two (2) referees on letterheaded paper
  • Proposal showing potential impact on Kenya’s development
  • Quality Study Plan
  • Available to start studies in UK by September 2026

📗 For PhD Study

  • Proof of Kenyan citizenship 🇰🇪
  • Master’s Degree from a recognized university
  • All academic transcripts and certificates
  • Supporting statements from two (2) referees on letterheaded paper
  • Supporting statement from a proposed UK supervisor
  • Proposal showing potential impact on Kenya’s development
  • Quality Study Plan
  • Not registered for a PhD/MPhil before September/October 2026

🌍 Development Themes

These awards are offered under six development themes:

1. Science and technology for development

2. Promoting innovation and entrepreneurship

3. Strengthening resilience and response to crises

4. Strengthening health systems and capacity

5. Strengthening global peace, security and governance

6. Access, inclusion and opportunity

📝 Application Procedure

  1. Apply using the CSC’s online application system
  2. Download and print the completed online application form
  3. Submit electronically to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC)
  4. Download the Standard Scholarship Application Form from the Ministry’s website: http://www.education.go.ke
  5. Fill and attach required certified supporting documents:
    • Certified photocopies of ID
    • Academic/professional certificates
    • Transcripts
    • Birth Certificate
    • Passport
    • Other testimonials
    • Proposal in the area of study
    • Copy of the online application form submitted to CSC
  6. Submit in two (2) sets to:

    Director, Higher Education

    OR

    Telposta Towers, 27th Floor, Room 2701

    On or before 16th October, 2025 at 5:00 PM

⚠️ Important Notes

  • Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted via email or phone for interviews
  • Academic certificates from foreign institutions MUST be recognized by Commission for University Education (CUE)
  • Applications not submitted via the online system or after the closing date will not be accepted
