1. Teacher Upgrade Programme Launched 📚
KUCCPS has introduced a Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE) for teachers with P1 or ECDE certificates. Applications opened on August 6, 2025, with an initial deadline of August 20, 2025. 🗓️
- Eligibility: Teachers registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
- Application: Apply at teachersupgrade.kuccps.ac.ke.
- Purpose: Prepare teachers for the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Applications will continue with periodic breaks for processing.
2. TVET Applications Reopened 🛠️
Applications for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes are open for the September 2025 intake, from August 8 to August 22, 2025. 🎯
- Eligibility: KCSE holders from 2000 to 2024.
- Fee: Reduced to KSh 500 from KSh 1,500.
- Apply at: student.kuccps.net.

3. 2024/2025 Placement Results 🎉
On July 1, 2025, KUCCPS announced the placement of 310,502 students from the 2024 KCSE cohort and prior years. Of 244,563 students with C+ and above, 80% (194,372) were placed in:
- Universities
- TVET institutions
- Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC)
- Teacher Training Colleges
Placements occurred in two phases: March/May 2025 for KMTC, TVET, and Kenya School of Law, and September 2025 for universities and teacher training colleges.
4. Proposed Policy Shift 🗳️
A parliamentary proposal aims to let students choose preferred courses without institutional or national balancing criteria, addressing mismatched placements. 🧠
5. Expanded Opportunities 🌍
With 986,137 placement slots, KUCCPS can accommodate all 2024 KCSE candidates (965,501) and prior years. New institutions include:
- Kabarnet University College
- Nyandarua University College
- New KMTC campuses (e.g., West Pokot)
6. Financial Support 💰
Parliament allocated KSh 500 million for KMTC students to access HELB loans. The Higher Education Fund portal is open for placed students. 📜
